Ok - I've decided I'm going with VCT in my garage. Three car - 620 square foot - built in 1990. The floor is sealed .

Can I lay the tile with the sealer there - or do I need to grind it or blast it before laying the tile?

I know prep is everything and I want to do this right.

Any help would be appreciated.

That I`m not sure about but I believe one of GJ`s resident floor experts would have a solution. Have you done the water trick to see if it is really sealed?

Great decision on the VCT. Not sure how to get the sealer off without grinding or blasting.
Good luck with it and be sure to post pics.

Yup - did the water test - it's sealed. Would prefer to avoid grinding / blasting but if that's what it takes - so be it. Any other suggestions out there?

As long as your slab is smooth you should be fine. I really doubt VCT adhesive is going to activate your sealer. Try a 2x2 test in a corner somewhere. Then take a couple of aspirin and call me in the morning when you try to remove the test:lol:
