VCT question

Hi guys,

I'm planning to install VCT tiles on my garage floor by the end of the summer. I want to go VCT for different reasons, like cost, look, etc etc etc. I dont mind the annual maintenance (wax/buffing).

I was just wondering, how to do 'seal' the edge when the VCT ends near the garage door? For the perimeter, I will put a vinyl trim with a sealant (ie.: caulking). I want to seal it because of the winter we have here, alot of melted snow will be present.

Another thing. There is a small slope toward the drain in the middle of the garage, but I have 2-3 places where water pools. Would it be okay for me to use self-leveling cement and feather the edge, then grind it smooth? I will also be changing the drain, because right now it's a concrete 'tub' that is not centered and crooked with a ruster cover. I will put one of the black plastic one.

1/8" thick aluminum angle glued and Tapcon screwed to the edge of the opening. Works great!

Thanks for the tip, but that wont work for me. I dont and an edge like this. basically, my only 'edge' will be the 1/8 of the tile.

You can get a little vinyl reducer that butts to the edge of the vct. You can contact cement or double faced tape it down. Its gray, beige,or black. We get it from our flooring distributor.
