Planning on using 12" VCT tiles. We were told by an installer that we shouldn't install VCT tile on top of a radiant heated floor, but are seeking more information.

I have had VCT on a heated concrete floor for almost 10 years with absolutely no problems. My garage is in a cold climate. You can see my garage and floor via the link at the bottom of this e-mail. Judge for yourself.

Drop me a PM with any questions or ask them here.

Dave,
Did you use Armstrong VCT tiles and do you know what kind of glue you used? I viewed your garage pics and you have a BEAUTIFUL garage and home. We are building a new home and I want to do the black and white pattern also and will have radiant heated floors also. Please feel free to call me at 316-788-5967 anytime or e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks.

I honestly don't know why your installer would hesitate over VCT going down on a heated floor. Realistically the slab will be between 60-70 degrees for comfort heat. It'd be alot better than not having heat in the floor then dropping something on a cold day in the winter and watching a portion of a tile crack due to it being brittle. I installed hard surface floor covering for 14 yrs.
