Is it all right to use armstrong vct tiles with in floor heat? or will it act like insulation? Also i am using my shop for my snowmobiles and was wondering what the best glue was and top coat so when there is some water on the floor it does not get under the tiles. Thanks

I'm currently waiting on my Wolverine order to get here to Calgary to coat my VCT black/white checkered pattern with some Bondtite....my garage use is for running my snowmobile in and out a daily driver large SUV. I will be posting a full description with pics of the install beginning to end. Hoping for some protection from the snowmobile carbides on the skis from the bondtite....we will see how it works out, durability is what I'm concerned about from the carbides tearing it up (I may have to invest in a full size sled dolly or just remove carbides before moving it around in there).
Bondtite epoxy coated vct will be water proof and your tiles should be fine with snow melt water sitting on the surface, however, if you have some water under the slab or moisture in the concrete, then maybe you'd have issues. I will post what I find out from my install once it is complete and I have some winter experience with the epoxy finished VCT floor.

Anything you put on top of the slab will act as insulation. That said, I don't think that floor tiles will offer a significant barrier. Your already slow-to-react in-floor heat system will be even slower now, but if you're going to keep the temp up year-round it probably isn't much of a problem.

Sure it will insulate some, but no different than carpet or lam. flooring or whatever else would be on the floor in the house.
