Also picked up a pair of Wiltons for $100. An electrician working at a local school renovation salvaged them and sold them to me.


4" Wilton bullet. Little rough but i should be able to clean it up.

3.3" Wilton bullet. This one is in real good condition.

The base I saved from an older 5" wilton fits this 4" Wilton perfectly.

Haven't done anything to the s10 in years. Was hoping to start working on it this summer, but my new job isn't allowing as much free time as I had. I just started getting back in the garage. Right now, my goal is to sell enough vises to pay for a new shed.

Rearranged my block grinders so I can clear off the vises from my workbench. These 5 were crowding my workbench. Much better!




Also, having multiple vises is perfect for working on a long piece

Finally got some unnecessary items out if the garage. Had this bench holding clamps and junk which was taking up space.thats out.


Took this craftsman stand apart. I'm between selling it and keeping it, so I just took it apart and put it in the corner of the garage for now.


Made a home for clamps on my vise stand using a giant butterfly handle clamp for now.


A lot of floor space is back. Just need to find a home for the welder and sander. The sander might go on my workbench where the old duro drill press is. One day I might be able to get a second vehicle in this place.

I share your pain. I'm always re-positioning, finding different storage or finally getting rid of something to make that little extra room to turn around and work on a project. Part of the garage life fun though I guess. Keep it up.

Haha, I tell my wife, garages are for project vehicles only. But it would be nice to be able to pull in her trailblazer in the winter or when I need to do a little maintenance on it. I Gotta save up for that shed.

I started stripping back an old Makita cold cut mitre saw today to see what I'm in for. Are you using a wire wheel on a drill to clean back the pieces or wet and dry paper ?

Can you elaborate on how you made the decal label please.

I just used sandpaper by hand to clean up the pieces before painting. The label is a Microsoft word file. I printed it on adhesive backed foil paper.


Then I sprayed one coat of rustoleum clear coat over the top to protect it from smudging.

I might even stick the printed decal on a piece of aluminum to make a logo/decal plate. Then attach it to the grinder.

Got home from work and cut this aluminum plate out while cooking dinner on the grill. Having electric metal shears makes cutting so easy. The hard part of getting the decal on centered and cut perfectly is next.

I apologize for not posting on here for a while. Been really busy with life and work. I've been working on some small projects here and there but haven't had time to finish anything. I will be posting some updates on semi complete projects and what I've done in my garage hopefully next week.

So we went on a few vacations this summer and we camp out with a lot of gear. Instead of trying to strap stuff to the roof, I opted to buy hitch mounted cargo carrier. This thing worked out great. I also installed taillights on it to make it safer. It's nice because it folds up. It also leaves enough room to open the rear gate with it installed and loaded. It's the Curt 18153 and cost about $160 or so with the light kit.

Finished this Wilton woodworkers' vise for a customer back in September. Not my favorite restoration but came out pretty good. It was pretty rough cosmetically. The aluminum handle was chewed up so I made a new one out of 7/8 solid aluminum. I also made a press fit pin to hold on the rear piece. Originally, I think these vises came with a cotter pin. The pin was missing so I decided to make a cleaner solution. This vise isn't perfect but my customer wanted a Wilton woodworkers' vise to match his Parker 974 I restored for him.

Even if you aren't thrilled with the Wilton, I think it looks great and I'm sure your customer likes it as well. Try not to stay away so long this time and keep posting for those of us who like your tool pron*.

Here is some more of what I've been acquiring this summer.
Picked up a nice 6" Parker 956.

Picked up this cool vintage lamp at an antique shop while on vacation in Cape My, NJ. I will be mounting it on my vise stand which is in process of being built, slowly.

Acquired this rare Stephens vise which I actually just shipped out a few days ago to its new owner. It was cool to own it, and I'll probably regret selling it.



Also got this really clean small Parker vise.

I also found this really cool vintage craftsman compressor I had to have just because it looks cool.


Got myself a baldor stand with a 3 phase grinder. Sold the grinder so basically got it for free.

Cleaned up really nice with some simple green.

Then I found this old grinder stand which might be from an old delta but not really sure. My 1HP block grinder fits nicely. Hoping to restore the setup this coming year.

Cleaned up and painted the rusty brake drum vise stand. First time trying rustoleum hammered using a brush and roller.








This Wilton will get painted hammered light blue and mounted on the stand.

It was very rough.

Mostly cleaned up. A little more sanding and then I can paint it.



Will get this one done sometime this winter.

Won this Kalamazoo 4x36 belt grinder at an auction.


The last person/persons using it didn't adjust the tracking and the belt ground into the frame.

My fix is this plate. I just have to finish smoothing out the circles and bolt it to the frame to reinforce it. I think the frame is cast and even if it's not, I don't know if I can get the upper roller assembly off without breaking it. This will work for now and won't cost me more than my time.

The Little Vintage Garage.

Here is the stand I am building for my Parker 956. I'm using an old sprocket for the base, and an I-beam and pipe for the column. There will be a top and bottom plate about 1/2" thick each.


I sliced the pipe into 3 sections.




I found two 1/4" round plates at the steel yard which I will laminate and plug weld together. I think I will make a couple cutouts in the top plate to make little built in parts trays.


Don't mind my off center marks. I will clean up the cuts before I finish it.

JB. I'm hoping the stand will have enough weight to not have to bolt down. If I end up having to. Lot it down, I will use some flush drop in anchors so I can unbolt and move it around if I need to.

Here is the sprocket mostly cleaned up out of he etank. I need the clean up the nooks and corners then coat it with BLO. Probably won't work on it until the end of January because of the holidays and family vacation.

I bet it feels good to get that vehicle out of the way. I have an older F150 that needs many repairs and I've been kidding myself about fixing it to sell. But now that it's 15 degrees F and covered in snow I've faced reality and it's destined to belong to Charity Motors soon. I found I could get more in tax value than selling it outright.

Yes it does. I've been sitting on this truck for 2-3 years now and it really feels good to get it sold and gone. Of course this morning was 8F out so it was fun helping the buyer load it onto his trailer. Luckily it wasn't windy but it was still freezing out there. I have a clean yard now after selling out camper and this truck this year!

Still a little messy in my garage but my new led lighting from Costco is amazing.

Before with one double 4ft fluorescent fixture.

Now with 6 Costco feit electric 4ft led fixtures on the ceiling. Plus one above the left workbench, and one above the back right lathe bench which isn't on for the picture.

I'm loving the lights. Now just need to get at least a small shed built this coming year so I can get the lawn and garden tools out of the way. Cleaning up to that right front side of the garage will give me a better place for the tools that don't currently have a good home.
