Aka a road side assistant tool kit for your vehicle.

Post your set up of what you carry on a daily basis to get yourself out of a sticky situation, whether it be a flat tire to a dead battery. Whats in your vehicles first aid kit?

And remember, this thread is worthless without pictures!!!


Also if you could share what particular brand of equipment you have used and trust so others can aquire them for their kit.

I just have a simple socket set that could hold me over for small things. I don't worry about dead batteries because both my cars are manual, and my Audi is quattro with different than stock wheel size so the spare does me no good. I buy the OE first aid kits no matter the brand so the Audi has an Audi one the VW has a VW one. F150 doesn't have one

I look at it as being ready. I like to buy stuff on a whim. I can go grab my trailer from storage or just jump in the truck and go. Likewise if I'm out and about and stop at a junkyard or have a problem I don't need to run home for tools.

I have roadside assistance so I don't really need it. Home Depot sells emergency kits you can pack in your car. A small simple tool kit would probably do the trick for simple repairs like a loose battery cable or something.

I carry a cell phone, a AAA card, a flashlight, lighter, spare fuses and a leatherman knife.

I saw a similar thread one time on the Craigslist auto forum. Items ranged from "screwdriver, hammer, pliers, bailing wire, duct tape" to a trunk full of stuff. Better ones were the single word comments, like "condoms", "fifth of Jack", ".44mag", "12ga." Right now, because of circumstances, I'm using a U-Haul pick up. My "kit" consists of a flashlight, cigarette lighter, cigar cutter, P-24 can opener, a knife (cheap freebie, good for "just in case I have to drop it") and a few other odds and ends.

I picked up a BDAR kit at a local flea marked. I pulled out most (but not all) of the materials to patch a hole in your fuel tank from a mortar round, and added some of my own flavor tools, but the Contico case and Safety Seal plug kit were a good starting point.
