I don't have the book. I have a symmetrical 2 post lift. Only use it for cars with full frames. Get the cars centered in the hoist. Just get the arms & lift pads as far out on the frames as possible. Just common sense. Never had an issue or not felt safe.

Noticed the other day that one of our Jeeps have arrows in the uni-frame that shows where to put lift arms/jack stands. Not sure why all vehicles dont have that.

I bought it when I got my lift. Then promptly lost it. I would recommend it. The best lift points are not always evident. Example Jeep Liberty I have lifted in frame and on pinchweld. Both work fine but it’s confusing for newbs.

Some have notches or extra thickness on the pinch welds, others actually have rubber/plastic cushions to lift from, common sense and looking at what you are putting the lift arms on is the biggest thing to keep in mind. I've seen jeeps with holes in the rockers/floors from guys trying to use rotted out pinch welds instead of going a little farther under to the sub-frame.................

Wondering if many of you have or use one of these books or if you happen to lift a vehicle that your not familiar with is there another way to find the lifting points.

Owners manual might show lifting points. At minimum it'll show the ones for the tire changing jack.

Factory service manual should definitely show all lifting ponts. The pro aftermarket ones like Alldata might too.

I remember talking to a mechanic several years ago. I told him I couldn't find the lifting points in my car's owner manual. He said they are in most vehicle's *service* manual, which a shop would have, but not in most vehicle's owner manual.

In other words, what MattT just said.

Common sense usually dictates location. 99% of people who use a lift regularly can judge where to put them immediately once looking under a random vehicle.....

One came with my lift about 10 years ago. .
I do use it as a guide when I lift a vehicle.
I plan to get the latest one next year.

Not all vehicles have obvious lift points.
Some have places that look like a good lift point but it really isn’t.

One came with my Bendpack asymmetrical 10k.

I have used the manual, but thought it was kind of generic compared to the vehicle specific service manuals I have used.
