Has anyone used the Velux manual venting skylight?

I want to install one on the roof of the garage....with one of the primary intents of being able to use it to climb out onto the roof. Can you open up the top more than the crank alows?

They make a Roof Window...but it lists the min pitch at 20 deg while my roof is 15 deg (3:12).

I haven't used one, but I'd think there's gotta be a relatively easy way to bypass or extend the manufacturer's opening travel without tearing the whole thing apart.. That's a cool idea to be able to access your roof that way.

I had a velux, you just may be able to open it that far if you disconncted the raise linkage, long time ago, not really sure. My family had a body/mech. shop, and they put a set of bilco basement doors as a roof entrance from the attic, worked out real well.
