Hi guys,

I mostly lurk here, but thought I'd see if there are any guys who split their own wood on the forum.

My hydraulic pump is shot on my log splitter. After doing some searching, I see Northern Tool sells Haldex pumps and Dalton sells MTE. Both of those brands seem to get a lot of thumbs up as far as quality.

I'm having a hard time finding other suppliers for these pumps, though. Northern Tool seems a little high in price, so I wanted to shop around a bit. Does anyone have a hydraulic pump vendor they can recommend?

Jeff

What is your failure mode. I just had a pump in the dump trailer fail and traced it to the pickup screen in the tank. Cleaned the screen and all is good.

Yep, two good suggestions. I'd take the old one apart and see what went wrong first - could be as simple as a damaged seal or plugged screen. If it's truly scrapped then see what Surplus Center has available or check on E-bay. You probably want a two-stage pump with similar displacement to the one you're replacing.
