Vent/Exhaust fan question

I am building a shop. I am not planning on cooling it beyond a large exhaust fan in one end and was looking for a fan to put there. I was looking at this fan but it is supposed to be 48" diameter but specs only list it as 32 1/8" high. I chatted with one of their customer service reps online and he insisted that the diameter and height were unrelated. Am I missing something here? I just don't see how that can be the case. I can see how they might be a little different to allow for the housing or whatever, but that would make for the height being taller than the diameter of the fan not less.

Anyway I am trying to get dimensions to the framer for my shop. Does anyone know of a supplier for similar items that can get me what I need?

If you go to that link and look in the lower left there's a button you can click to open up the installation manual: https://www.globalindustrial.com/site/images/fantech/2016/1SDE-Series_Manual.pdf On page 3 it has a diagram with dimensions.

That 32 1/8" dimension is the depth of the fan.
