Ventilation for garage

Hi, i have read a couple topics in this section about this, but nothing i could really use specifically for my garage. i have a 32'x24' steel walled, wood frame garage. i have insulation on the sides and roof. it has soffits on both ends of the roof. 10' from floor to trusses. it is HOT! no shade on garage, just sun all day every day, and i have no ridge vent. I was just looking at getting a regular Attic style roof vent to try and circulate some of the air, not sure if an attic fan will work with the soffits? I was also looking at getting just a regular ceiling fan to keep the air moving.

any input on if the Attic vent fan would be a good option would be great! i'm in southern NJ where its been 90-100 for the last month, and thats just too hot with no air moving and baking in the garage!

If all you have are soffit vents and no ridge or gable end vents then a power roof vent will help. Just to make sure you're calling the vents by the right name the soffit vents are the ones located under the lower edge of the roof line. You could also put in a gable end fan.

I know the feeling Im in somerset nj and roasting lol I actually i have fan i bought from home depot that moves alot of air but some sort of vent fan in the roof would definately help to move some of that hot air.

The only solution I've found to a hot garage is to insulate like a mad man, and then buy an air conditioner. If the garage has enough insulation, even a small air conditioner does wonders. And, put in ceiling fans so the cool air circulates.

You are in a solar oven. Insulation is the answer - though I have never specified "mad man" insulation, I do heating and cooling loads and specify insulation all over North America depending on the climate of course. Hot or cold insulation, not ventilation, is the first step.
