I need to install a flue vent in my new hot water tank that I'm using for my radiant heat system. I'm running just a basic AO Smith gas HWT with no power vent. I'm trying to find out what I need to buy so I can right it right out of the side wall (90 degree bend at the top of the tank). Can I do this without power venting? It's only a few feet away from the wall. Or, do I HAVE to go up through the attic and straight up out the roof?

I would think that you should read the manual for your unit as it will depict appropriate venting methods. If it does not show a side wall method I would interpret that as not permitted.

All of the B-vent natural draft water heaters I have seen have all gone up thru the roof. Power vents yes can side wall vent.

No, you cannot! Just because it is temptingly easy doesn’t make it right. Either buy the pv’d water heater or a Tjernlund Gpak

OK understood. Just didn't know if it was acceptable or not. Would rather not put a hole in the roof but we are going to. Just need to find a good vent now. Any suggestions?

Return the tank you bought and get one with a power vent. Follow installation instructions.
