I posted on another thread, asking this question, but didn't get any responses, so thought maybe a new thread was in order.

I have Modine PA150A already mounted in a large garage (about 3000 ft, 10.5 foot ceilings). There is no venting. I realize if I run it very much, I am probably dumping carbon monoxide into the air, so I would like to vent it.

Can I run approximately 12 foot horizontal with a slight pitch up, then go up the wall and out the roof (another 14 feet)? Do I need some kind of power vent, or will simply running vent pipe work OK?

Thanks for any help.

Find a manual for it online if you don't have one. That will tell you the venting requirements.

Without a power vent that long run you're proposing is probably too long.

There is no probably about it dumping carbon monoxide if you run it at all without venting it. It shouldn't be run at all not being vented. You wouldn't start your car in the garage with the door closed would you?

Here is a link to the manual, it shows you can go a maximum of 60' equivalent length, which means the length after adding for elbows. The chart shows you would add 6' per 90 elbow. Shows you need to use 5" either category I for vertical terminations or category III for horizontal terminations.

You should be fine with lengths you proposed.

Yeah, I knew about the CO.

Tried to find the manual, but seem to be a little internet challenged these days.

Thanks a million for the link.

Downloaded the manual, got supplies on Fri. and vented it out the roof on Sat.

We moved the heater about 4 feet closer to the corner, and dropped it down a foot so we wouldn't need as much horizontal, and so we would have more pitch.

Works great, and the garage smells a lot better.

Thanks again.
