This is my first post or thread or whatever this is. I never participated in a forum before so bare with me please if I do this wrong. I am in the middle of building a 32x20 shop with a gable roof. Open ceiling with rafter ties 4'O.C..
I still have to button up the eaves and do some midspan blocking before I sheet the roof. So I am undecided on how I want to do the soffits. With or without vents? I plan on putting an exhaust fan at one end of the gable for ventilation of welding fumes etc. I don't have any plans of putting a ceiling in and creating an attic space. So I would be essentially sealing the shop up except for the exhaust fan with an intake that would open with negative pressure and close with positive pressure. The exhaust system would be automated by thermostat. So venting my soffits and roof ridge is not necessary correct?

Welcome to the Forum.

I would still want soffit intakes and somekinda ridge vent for passive venting.

Check out J&D fans at Global Industrial.

Good fans, good prices there. Marc
