Venting welding fumes

Hey all

I do alot of plasma cutting and welding in my garage....mostly hobby/craft stuff.
I want to make a area possibly with a folding table so no to take up too much room that can hold a 4X4 sheet of steel. Garage is too small(ain't they all)
Also need to do some better venting than what I have tried so garage does not fill up with dust and does not have the welding smell for days on end. I am not opposed to cutting holes through the wall for a fan. Thought this would also work for paint fumes.
Right now I just use a frame I made with a welding blanket around the bottom to help contain the fumes with a fan to the outside through a 4" hose. I am guessing that is not enough CFM for my needs.
I know I could make this happen but thought I would get suggestions from some who have already done something like this. Pictures would be great.

Thanks in Advance....

Just curious if you're talking about, MIG, flux core, arc, tig or O/A welding?

My wife has given me the okay to buy a welder but doesn't like the fumes & odor from the flux core machine I've been borrowing.

I understang MIG will be cleaner but how much so I'm not sure.

for long runs you will need a blower not a fan. I see wood shop dust collectors all the time on craigs and planned to just use HVAC ducting and one of those large high static pressure blowers. If your going to do paint though its a whole different story, then you need to be looking for a paint booth blower with an explosion proof motor

I used a blower from an old furnace:

Works great, and was free since I already had the furnace. :)

I've thought about a similar set up but lower cfm - how about an old kitchen range hood?

You could mount it upside down under and expanded metal table top - would be good for welding fumes/smoke as well as spray painting... (though not explosion proof as I'm sure OSHA would require for paint)
