Does anyone know how to disassemble a Will Bert versa vise? How do you remove the dynamic jaw? Thanks, Dave

Did you ever get an answer to your question? My V.V. of forty years stripped out at the female threads and I really loved that Vise. I can't get the male threaded rod out at the crank end.

Just picked up a nice Versa Vise for $30 at an estate sale. I was late, but at least I got that. I think the reason it was still there was that other buyers couldn't figure out how to use it and thought something was missing.

Has the high, thin jaws; did they make different types? Looks exactly like this one, only no label in the oval recess. And no PowRarm!

I don't see the swivel accessory on their site that is shown here at about 2:15

Does anyone know if that still available? Not impossible to make one up of course.

Columbian made a version of the Versa-Vise called Gyro-Vise. Grizzly has a cheap China knock off called the Shop Fox Parrot Vise. There were apparently many versions between them. It looks like a nice vise to have.

These vises are, among other things, frequently used by luthiers (musical instrument makers).

My dad had one, with thick rubber on the jaws, that he used for holding the stock of guns while he worked on them.

I just talked to Gaydash Industries in Uniontown, OH who were the last US makers of the Versa-Vise. They don't have any complete vises left, but do have bases and some other parts. I can see how an extra base would be a good thing to have for any vise hoarder since you can bet some of these vises will loose their bases along the way.

Also good if you use one and want to mount it in two different locations. The gentleman I spoke to said the offshore vises cost about what it cost him just to get the castings made in the USA.

The "Parrot" vises as Grizzly and Shop Fox call their version of the Versa-Vise aren't available in the high, thin-jawed model, which is probably the most useful. I'm guessing that's because whatever iron they're using isn't strong enough. In fact now that I think about it, the way the top jaws of my vise were machined by the previous owner, I think the US-made vises were probably cast steel or at least a malleable iron alloy.

I took ViseSquad advice and called Gaydash for Versa-Vise parts. They said they have none. So, if someone cleaned them out, please PM me. I'm looking for the barrel nut that accepts the vise screw.

If someone cleaned them out of parts it must be very recently. I'll call them again and ask. They are obviously busy with whatever their business is now though and there's not much profit in selling $10 parts when you have to pack and mail them etc.
