Versatile flashlight for compact tool bag/pouch?

My favorite tool bag/pouch has one extra "slot" after doing some rearranging/optimization. I really want a useful light. My requirements are below:

1) diameter no larger than typical 18650 batter lights. Doesn't have to be that large though.
2) must have a pocket clip, ideally a pocket/hat clip.
3) vastly prefer it to be rechargeable, bonus points for USB-C recharging port.
4) minimum length of 3.5" maximum of a typical pen/pencil.
5) magnetic tail (or somewhere) so I can stick it to ferric metal.
6) a lantern or side light on it for more of area/flood effect.
7) the typical niceties, quality construction, intuitive/easy modes/memory.

There are zillions of lights out there just browsing Amazon, almost makes it too hard to find the perfect one if it does exist.

I used to carry a streamlight Stylus Pro Penlight and really liked it. I graduated to Streamlight Strion LED's, but maybe it's time to revisit rechargeable LED penlights...

It does not complete your list but if you get a AAA Maglite, you will never need another.

Apply your filters and see what shows up. I think in-light charging is going to limit the list quite a bit (and yield generally lower quality results). It's kind of a gimmick. If you must be able to recharge in-light, I would opt for a rechargeable cell (battery with built in USB-C port) rather than require the light have it.

All that said, my personal recommendation would be a Zebralight angle light with a frosted lens.

Good luck!

This probably won’t fit all your requirements either, but check out the stream light ProTac series…

Fenix E28R meets several of your requirements. Fenix has lots of options, I have about 1/2 dozen of them. Have a couple of Streamlights as well, favorite is the Protac 2L-x. Nitecore is another brand that will have some that meet your requirements.

I've had good luck with Fenix, have a PD35 and PD36R and a couple other smaller/cheaper ones. I do also have a couple streamlights, I wouldn't say they are all what they're cracked up to be. I don't like the stylus lights because the tail switch is a pain to use...and most of their lights lack output for the $ compared to Fenix and I honestly don't notice the difference in build quality.

Wurkkos has a headlamp style light that has two leds on it, one is for flood lighting, it has usb c charging, and a simple UI. It's on amazon here. It's a 21700 battery, not a 18650, but it also can be used as a powerbank.

It seems like nobody is shopping in stores anymore. Our local Home Depot/Menards/Lowes all have large selections of flashlights. Most likely they will have what you need, instead of trying some random names on Amazon.

COAST is probably the leading brand in flashlights, superb quality, light output, selections...with lifetime warranty. My favorite is the pocket sized Coast HX5 (I have 3), with rechargeable Li-On AA battery, it's almost too bright to use indoors. 1 AA regular battery can last months. I've dropped it, left it in the rain, still works perfectly after 5 years.
