Hey guys I'm looking at getting a little more serious about my painting and finishing setup in the next couple days and am in need of some recommendations. I need a paint sprayer and I'm not sure if I should be buying an air gun, a self contained system, or what. I will be using it mostly for finishing wood furniture, but at the moment am going to paint the steel rally wheels for my camaro, so I'm looking for something decently versatile.
Currently I have a compressor, but it's just an oil cooled craftsman 1 hp 12 gallon rated at 145 psi (2.4 cfm@90 psi, 3.7@40) as my understanding goes this probably isn't substantial enough to run a gun very much, right? What are some moderately priced options that I could go with. I'm not against buying a new compressor if that's what I need, but this one satisfies most of my air needs as I use largely electric tools. Any and all thoughts are appreciated.
