A little while back I posted about running some basic power to my garage for the sake of functionality until we're ready to install a full service and fully revamp the garage area. Well I'm happy to report that I'm all done and have my first set of lights installed. I plan to add another row of three 48" 2xT8 fixtures to increase light for detail work. I'm not sure what sort of lighting I want to do for under the mezzanine just yet as chain-mounted florescent might hang a bit low there.

Most of the focus is on the middle and right bays as the left-most stall is presently storage for my wife's business. I hope to change that in the future and make the area more dedicated, once I complete a dedicated area for her supplies as well.

Started out as a giant mess:

Took some time to clean up the horrid mess and blow out all the leaves and concrete dust. It made a huge difference. I'm planning on doing an epoxy coating on the floor at some point, but I don't know much about them at present and am in no major hurry due to other priorities.

I named this thread Version 0.01 as I am far from a build or 'the build' for that matter. I just needed something to make my garage more than just dead storage. I'm very happy with the result and have already made good use the area.

Any pictures of the Scirocco?

Here are some bits for it I picked up at the junk yard on Monday...

I found some pictures of the car itself on my portable drive. It is presently stored at my mom's house, but as soon as I can arrange to have it towed over to my place, I'll start the teardown and restore process.

A lot of work ahead... A majority of which is returning it to stock and de-ricerfication. The previous owner was a nice guy, but that didn't stop him from 'ruining' the car. He did do some decent things though, despite it. The engine and transmission are from an 84' GTI Rabbit and appear to be in fairly good nik. The front brakes are from a G60 Corrado and the rear seats are from a 16V, hence the passenger 16v seat I nabbed from Monday. I just need to find a good driver-side seat and I'll be set.

It is pretty far abused though -- if I can find a clean shell locally I may consider using this one for parts instead. I won't know for sure until I can really get into it and isolate the problem areas (rust & chassis damage).

I have a soft spot for Sciroccos :)

Thats a cool garage!

What are your intentions to do with it?

I actually like the rustic look. I would just ad to it but not go crazy trying to modernize it.

Cool space with all the wood.
