Very Basic Rust Bullet Gray Project

We get a lot of questions on how Rust Bullet Concrete turns out when done as a quick and simple install. This is two coats of gray over a surface in moderate condition.

Cost .81 / Sf


Obviously we have shared lots of pics with flake and clear (about $1.00 - $1.15) but this shows just a very basic, nice project

Other than cosmetics, is there another reason to fill in control joints as some people do? Mine are saw cut, and for some reason I like the way they look.

SikaFlex is a good post coat filler if you decide to much stuff going into the cracks

How does it hold up in terms of oil spills and solvents? I know my garage has a basic gray coating like that but is very susceptible any solvents or caustic fluids like brake cleaner.

Incredibly well. The manufacturer has done full submersion tests over years with fuel and over days with brake fluid. It is frustratingly solvent resistant once cured

I used to use a single part epoxy and this didn't last. I'd repaint every month to maintain a perfect floor.

This, should be perfect for a long time. What prep work was involved prior to paint application?

Like the idea of Sikaflex for contraction joint filling. Within 24 hours, you have a flat floor that adapts!

I recently used their self leveling product for gap seal along the outer perimeter of my garage. Worked perfect!

The product has been amazingly well and the feedback has been awesome. They Re very responsive and work to improve the formulation.

I think Justin's kits assume two coats - you must have gotten a rockin' deal on concrete to beat the $0.585/square foot cost on the 1000 square foot kit!

The odor *****. It dissipates quick. To be completely straight up, unless the basement is a walkout with good ventilation, I don't know that I would do it in an occupied home. You just don't need what it has to offer and you would likely be better off talking to Legacy about a tinted acrylic.

wow. I have been telling people .80, but you are correct. At that volume with the member discount...

So if I had to double it, that would make my floor coating $6,000. Thus being why I made my statement.

When I quote a price per square foot, it is for the system. Not only do the kits include enough for two coats, they also include accessories, etc. I do not generally put numbers on posts, but I will put some retail ones here as an example.

A residential grade 3600 Sq. Ft. Coating of rust bullet, two coats:

You would need 18 Gallons of material. Retail price $1974

An industrial grade 3600 Sq, Ft, coat of of Rust Bullet, 4 coats + anti wear

You would need 36 Gallons of material. Retail price of $3832

It is important to note that if you have a very smooth surface, additional prep will be required. Often larger slabs like this are power troweled resulting in an ultra smooth surface. An adhesion test can be done, but often you have to do a light grind or acid wash. If you have hand troweled concrete, these steps are rarely necessary.

I don't mind posting stuff, in normal situations job-specific pricing can be beyond the scope of what I feel is right for a vendor to post. Here I was just kind of correcting your numbers so I felt it was appropriate. I did not want the next guy to think it was that expensive. I have not figured the GJ7 discount into any of that
