Damn that would have been lethal in the 1970's with that big exposed gear set underneath, imagine being sucked in to the machine by your bell bottomed jeans...........(you did have flared trousers over there in the 70's right?!)

Its a Marvel model #8 tilting frame, friction drive, metal cutting saw.
I have had one that vintage, it worked every day after I changed the flat
belt step pulleys to a cog belt with a VFD drive for speed control. The friction
drive consists of two spinning plates, one smooth and one with cork inserts that is driven and pressed against the other one by sliding a weight down a bar on the right side. They still sell this same basic saw ( with lots more sheet metal guarding)

Only here in the Garage Journal will a thread about a cool old band saw be turned into a thread on Bell bottom flared pants!

Very cool band saw. Not so sure about the fancy flares.....

Belongs in the thread of WTF. Fancy table, T-slots, when everyone knows a bandsaw can't cut straight.
