I bought this complete, unrestored Brunner compressor today for $45. How could I pass it up.

Motor runs but needs lubrication. I've hand turned the pump. Any suggestions before I try to run it?

Only if are standing next to it!:lol_hitti

The bearings in the motor have an oil bath. The motor runs ok but wont turn the compressor. Everything needs a little TLC

Nice find indeed. Ensuring the tank is safe is the first priority. After that look close at the motor wiring and switch. If bad replace if necessary. The air pump could probably use a good flushing to removed dirt and gunk. Then add some fresh oil. Try to get some onto the rings and cylinder walls. How is the leather belt? New leather belts are easily obtained if necessary.

I resurrected a 100+ year old one compressor a few years ago. They make great shop art and are functional too. One thing I did for safety was add an adjustable pressure relief valve and set it for 50lbs. No need to stress the old boy.

That's a really neat compressor Joe. I have some pics of an old Brunner that I'll attach. Brunner had their name cast into many of the components used on their early compressors and that helps make them interesting. Ed.

That's bitchin' cool compressor you snagger Joe.Striper !!

I'd also make sure the PRV (pressure relief valve) works. Don't want the compressor to build excess pressure. Great to see you got it running.

Might be cool to mount the compressor/motor separate on a shelf and have it feed an airline system so the "new" tank isn't right there next to the super cool old compressor.

In any event, for $45 that Brunner is a You **** score !! Heck that gauge is probably worth the $45 you paid !! :rocker:

Happy to say the pressure regulator works great and i lowered the top pressure to 125. There is a cool little pressure relief 'popper' on top of the head that is adjustable, when it gets close to max pressure it goes 'pop, pop, pop' and release the air, prettycool.

I'm selling this one for 150 on CL. I don't have room for it. I wanted just to get it running and learn about these compressors. Mission accomplished
