I found these Duluth adjustable wrenches today with this weird green rubber coating i have never seen before. How rare are these or is the green grips even original?

Orig. I had a 12" with the green handle a loooooong time ago. If the coating is in good shap I'd buy them for that price. Recently there was a thread where these were discussed, but I don't remember the details.

Diamonds are some of the best adjustable wrenches ever. Grab those three for $8!!! For some reason, collectors just love those green handles.
The $30 wrench in the box is up to you. You would be able to re-sell it for that, but I'd probably pass personally.

I thought the ones with the red handles were the sought after ones?

I already bought the first 3 before i made this thread. I went back and talked the guy into separating the other one from the box. It is another 8in in a little worse shape then the rest. The other 3 are basically brand new.

Yes indeed the red ones are very sought after; I find green ones from time to time funny thing is I never bothered to pick them up. On the other hand in 40 plus years I have yet to see the red handled ones.

One thing to keep in mind, I'm not certain those were made in Duluth. At some point, after the triangle Corp bought diamond, they were mixed into the Crescent brand. AA says adjustables are near identical and shows photos. They have the panel extend all the way to the thumb wheel, like codys wrenches. Which are nice btw there seems to be a lot of NOS Diamond tools floating around.
Which leaves me with questions.

So did diamond dip the handles or triangle start that?

Were triangle Diamonds made in Duluth using tooling from outside, or were they made in crescent facility and rebadged?

Rebadged crescents could be the most collectible diamond tools?

I sold one of these early ones with near perfect condition and green coating intact on ebay recently. It sold for about $65 as I recall.

My wrench had the early marking with the direction of use marked and a notation not to use an extender on the wrench handle.

I think all mine say the same thing.

The green handles aren't rare, about half of the Diamond Caulk wrenches I see have them. However, you got a good deal on them considering how nice their condition is.

To other people posting - Diamond Caulk wrenches are pretty easy to find in Minnesota, so outside of the really big ones (18" and 24") and some other variants (like the red handles or the ones that open extra wide) prices are usually pretty reasonable.
