I have been reading about these and was interested in getting some, the thing is not many places to order from. I see this site
http://www.vesseltools.com/hand-tools/screwdrivers/view-all-products.html

and anything else looks like it would be from overseas. Anyone know of other online vendors in Canada or USA? Otherwise, any recommended overseas vendors?

Also, they have quite the lineup of screwdrivers, I was looking at the Megadora red (Tang-Thru) and the silver grey (Impakta).

Anyone have any favorites or recommended must haves by Vessel?

Thanks

I learned about the Vessel made in Japan Craftsman Ball Grip screwdrivers from this forum. Managed to get a hold of one from Sears, and loving it so far. The tip is pretty strong, two sizes in one screwdriver, and the ball grip is very comfortable and quick.

I the megadora kit a few weeks ago off of the vessel site, the ship from New Jersey so it wasn't bad for me. I have the 930/KIT-P123 and love them!

FMC1959,

Here are a number of Vessel online vendors you can research and price compare:

- RJRCoolTools (Very good communication, fast shipping, a little on the pricey side, limited product selection)

- LevelChrome (Very good communication, fast shipping; Owner, Alan, can order any Vessel product not on his website; will price match with Frankstools.com upon request)

- Frankstools (good communication, fast shipping; best to e-mail if product is in stock or experience wait times)

- Rakuten shop Mutsuura (good communication, fast shipping; best to e-mail to find out about stock status and shipping cost; (price plus shipping cost) might be the deciding factor to go with Mutsuura or Frankstools)

- eBay (good prices, selection, and fast shipping depending on the sellers and their feedback ratings)

Good luck,

Dave

Used the impacter and didn't do anything for my factory installed screw, It was on a JIS screw
Bought the regular red one with through tang because you can put a 10mm wrench on it.

They show picture of corroded stripped screws .. Hmm no way it will take those screws off.

Whatever you do don't buy the hozan JIS with the hard plastic handles, the tang was about to spin inside the handles.

If you can get a vise grip on the screw head have a second person help turn both at the same time I think that helps. The torque on the vise grip just beat any torque you can do with then Philips / JIS before cam out.

I bought mine on http://www.vesseltools.com.

The service was good. My order was shipped the next business day. They also threw in a copy of their catalog and some free insert bits.

They will be getting my business again soon.

They're good screwdrivers by the way. They get my recommendation.

I recently picked up the size 2 and 3 "Impacta" drivers from Amazon. Haven't used the impact feasture yet, but they are a very hefty driver and the tips seem like they will hold up.

I use the Impacta #3 Phillips and a 48oz sledge to replace Honda brake rotors. Works wonderfully like a hand impact driver should.

Very comfortable handle and easy to clean. The tip and handle still looks reasonably new after 3 months of daily shop abuse.

I have a set, bought them direct from Vessel a couple of years ago. I like them, the Impacta #2 was a life saver splitting a 2 stroke motorcycle case where my regular hand impact wouldn't fit. 35 year old screw came right out...

I bought this: http://www.vesseltools.com/hand-too...cle-restoration-repair/view-all-products.html along with an extra Impacta #2.

Another thing I like about their screwdrivers is that the round shafts are knurled, spinning a fastener is better than any other screwdriver I've used.

If I had a criticism it would be with the kit I linked to above, I wish it came with a #2 instead of a #3 PH.

I have a couple impactas. Saves me from dicking around with the impact driver sets when I'm dealing with bikes. Seldom need to whack them since the majority of what I work on has been opened up more than Madonnas thighs.
They run $20 shipped on iBay.

This is the one I bought to "test-drive" Vessel. A great tool.

Not sure why I didn't see Amazon on my Google search, must be getting old selective blindness.

I had heard PA had some, but I did a search on the website for "Vessel" and nothing came up. They don't list them as such, thanks for the heads up on what they have on their website.

Thanks

Ive ordered from this guy several times with no problems through his website and through ebay... themechanicstoolbox.com

Prices might be higher than some, but the free shipping worked out with my orders (mostly singles). I don't even remember where I bought my megadora sets.

I love the red ones, I've broken several of the impactas with regular use. They were nice while they lasted, but being able to give them a wack and put a wrench on it seems to be just as good and significantly longer lasting.

That's useful to know! I have been wanting to buy the Megadora for a long time to check the grip.

For now, the only VESSEL screwdriver I have is the 220W-3. I like the feel of the GRIP BALL system. I'll see in time the durability of the bits.

I sold all my used Craftsman Professional screwdrivers on ebay last year and bought a set of the tang-thru Vessel Megadoras with the profits. I still had money left over, so also got some Impactas. I wish I would have made the switch sooner, but I'm not really a big fan of the impactas. A regular impact driver works better. They just don't seem to turn near as much as other impact drivers do, so they take more time to use.

IMO the Impacta's are not a replacement for a proper hand impact driver. I have the #2 & #3 Impactas. I don't use them often but when I need their length to reach a screw they are handy. I also think they don't last long, they're relatively light duty. OTOH, I've never met a fastener that my Ko-ken ATTACK driver couldn't free up. That thing is a beast.

The Impactas are a skinny ~6" long torsion rod- that length absorbs much of the useful torque. Only for limited use as said. It's like using a 3' extension on an impact.
