I’m best described as a general handyman, and I currently work out of a really small toolbag and manually bring extra stuff as needed. I’d like a slightly larger general purpose kit to reduce how much extra stuff I have to pack.

I’m thinking a smallish one of the veto pro packs will work but theres just so many models and its hard to make sense from pics and videos.

Id like a nice assortment of pliers, capping out at 10” like a pair of 250mm Cobras, pair of 250mm pliers wrenches, a 9.5” linesman pliers, 10” cobolt cutters.

I don’t feel the need to carry a dozen full size screwdrivers. Most of the load out videos on YouTube of these have like 6 screwdrivers in it. As a handyman I feel like I can get away with a Klein 6 in 1 plus a demolition flathead plus a bit driver with various torx bits and a micro multi-bit driver for small stuff. No need for dedicated #1, #2, #3 Phillips, and three sizes of flathead.

I think I want to add some electrical tools. If so, it’s my Klein multi-shaft insulated screwdriver plus insulated knipex multi pliers with 10 and 12 ga strippers built in. A meter with some extra leads. A volt pen tester. And GFCI tester + breaker scan tool Combo. Not going to rewire a whole house.

For consumables, probably do Teflon tape, single color electrical tape roll, small duct tape roll, JB Weld, a Small dropper of blue loctite, a small 1oz nalgene container of lubricant, and some grease. Also some zipties and a few drywall screws.

A single electrical tool, being a m12 impact driver, with some hex bits and three hex drill bits to make non-precise holes and some nut drivers Which would be my “socket set” for this kit. I installed hex head bolts into a stud last week, the driver couldn’t get it all the way in, not enough power and I just turned the whole driver a half rotation as a lever on the nut driver end and it worked fine.

Tape measure, pencil, marker, stabila mini level on the outside. Got the idea from Millis Construction videos.

What model Veto makes sense?

I have six different Veto bags and was never exactly happy with any of them because there were always some issues that frustrated me. The build quality is excellent but there are a lot of design flaws. The biggest annoyance is all the tiny pockets which are great if you need twenty pencils at a time or numerous 1/4 drive bits etc. plus shallow and narrow pockets. I need functional pockets that hold something larger than standard combination pliers. I'm an industrial electrician. About six months ago I picked up this one: https://vetopropac.com/tech-ot-lc/ It is by far the best one I have used. I like seeing all my tools at once but also having the right depth and width. I use the center area for meters and remotes, the plastic bin holds all my wrenches and my taller Channellocks and Cobras fit in the center area too. I use both outer areas for various pliers, cutters, screw/nut drivers, hex wrenches etc. You can take out the tool wall on one side and fit a driver/drill in there easily. This is the perfect bag for me. Finally!
