UPDATE We purchased a 20hp rotary phase converter and the machines are happily running in the shop.

If I may ask, what was the total # of machines and HP you have for a load?
I am planning on a small garage shop and have been lining up machines. I have a Bpt mill- 1hp, SB Lathe w/5hp, and I'm looking for a surface grinder now so I am in the 7hp range. That 5hp is way overkill for a small lathe but I wasn't planning on swapping it out since it runs great in the shop where I am getting it from. I plan to use the RPC to supply a 3ph sub panel and then out to the machines. Is that how you wired yours?

Thanks
Gary

The lathe was a 7.5 hp and the mill was 2 hp only planned on running one machine at a time. This would have required a 15 hp rotary phase converter. The 20 hp was only $100 more so we went for it.
Purchased everything from www.speedy3phase.com Service was fantastic from Larry at Speedy3phase and cannot believe how fast we had all the parts and wired it to get the machines running.
We used 2 disconnect panels from the converter box.
