I just picked up a new set of headers and they have a coat of non-heat resistant paint on them. I want to coat with VHT. Should I strip the paint off of them before coating? Does anyone have any experience with VHT that can give me some pointers?

Yes must strip them first. I use vht quite often. I preheat the part usually by hanging in front of propane heater till hot to touch. I spray it on then throw it back in front of heater till cures. Seems to last longer and more even coloring than letting it cure on the car.

Do you use a special primer? I appreciate the help, I just want to make sure I do it right the first time.
