New to vice restoration and the site. I just picked up a Charles Parker #22 vice and was wondering if there are any sites that sell used vice parts or anyone out there that has parts for a #22. My original ones are in very bad condition and I'm not sure they can be saved.

Man, I wish I could find 434 1/2 jaws, but there don't seem to be folks out there producing parker jaws really. I've thought about removing mine and having a local machinist clone them, then get them heat treated. I believe a user named KMScott used to make them but has stopped.

Can't imagine it being cost effective to have a machinist recreat the jaws, if I could find a decent used set that would be better. I've always admired old vices and this one was too cheap to pass up. I'm assuming the jaws are steel rather than cast iron, so I was wondering about welding them up and grinding/filing back to shape.

I just joined today didn't think I could upload pictures yet. I also had a question on the base. Someone repaired by brazing a stud in, I was hoping to add a swivel base I'm wondering how durable the braze is going to be. Thanks for confirming my weld up and grind plan. I was pleasantly surprised that the jaws are pinned in rather than bolted.
