I decided to give this a bath in simple green to get soot off and hope for a stamp. I knew the slide looked quality from the side and had the be a maker mark somewhere. 3 hours in the green and I was able to se a nice early stamp from Stanley Rule & Level CO. I was very happy to see this. The collar that holds the screw in does not have a set screw so I will have to leave it the way it is. Next will be a bath in Evapo-Rust. I got this about three months ago at an estate sale. I fished it out from under the work bench among decades of **** and spider webs. The guy watched me work on my hands and knees to get it and said I can have it no charge because of my effort to retrieve it.
