Anybody deal with them. I know they are reputable Their taps and split dies are HSS but unbranded. Their Amazon reviews generally sound as if they are written by Happy Homeowner, which doesn't inspire confidence. "The tap was wonderful for my purpose" I also wonder if their Metric and SAE sets are the same quality as their open stock, which is very extensive. I would go that way if I thought it was better stuff than the sets. I have no idea where the open stock comes from but suspect it is better quality Chinese. I have decent tap and die holders and can buy or make a box for metric. My SAE set is surplus industrial quality assorted stuff that I bought many years ago in the old NYC machine district from Eastern Tool, who is Victor's cousin. That is where MSC (Manhattan Supply Company) started, too. They have all moved on. The MSC warehouse in Harrisburg is big enough to be a country. They actually have a retail counter. I made a stop there on the way home from Carlisle.
I asked the guy at Victor if the sets were the same as the open stock but I don't recall getting a straight answer. The sets are about $110-120. Somebody here is always asking about tap and die sets. This might be the one. It is HSS and their customer base is probably more machinist than hobby or car guys so I doubt he has lasted for many years selling junk.
