I know some would say I should post this in a knife forum, but I know a lot of folks here like their pocket knives, and Victorinox Alox handles knives are about the best ‘tool’ knives out there!

Anyway, in case anybody hasn’t seen these, here is the latest Victorinox Hunter Alox!

They’ve been making these ‘hunter’ knives for a while, but they never really appealed to me till these Alox handled versions came out!

They’re a nice solid lock knife with a 3 3/4 inch blade. The Alox scales add very little to the width of the thing, which makes them a delight to carry, but they have a very satisfying ‘heft’. I doubt that many will use these for hunting, but as a general purpose knife they’re looking pretty good to me!

The last pic shows the Hunter compared to the Pioneer, which gives an idea of the size!

Pretty smooth.

All I can really compare it to is a Spyderco Police. When you first open it, it needs a little more pressure than the Spyderco as it’s got a fairly strong backspring. Once it starts moving though, it’s silky smooth and the blade just spins out!

Used it for about 2 weeks now, and overall impression is that it’s a lot of blade for the overall weight and bulk! You can clip it in the breast pocket of a jacket and it doesn’t really show, which you couldn’t with a Buck Hunter! Blade grind could be a bit finer but it’s not as bad as some.

And I liked it so much I bought the red one too! Green and orange are going to be produced too, so whatever your choice of Snap On hard handle, you’ll find one to match!

They’re fairly new out! I wouldn’t have known, but I was in a local cutlers a couple weeks back and noticed the boxes stacked up! They only got the red ones in recently, and they were selling fast - mine is one of the last two they had!

Apparently they have been huge sellers in the U.K and Germany, but slow elsewhere!

I suppose it depends what you are going to do with it.

For a working tool the silver one (I believe they are silver anodised rather than bare aluminium) is probably preferable. If you scratch it, the scratches won’t really show up, and it’s the only one you can open one handed.

Having said that, I just love the red one!

And to complicate things, there is an orange as a 2021 limited edition knife. I don’t normally like orange but this is awesome..!0E7F3C18-9FC9-4385-9CA7-E06F0E1CBB31.jpegA456D82A-1AEE-4DD3-B669-755BC1D4F292.jpeg
