I purchased a Vidmar cabinet on Craigslist. My first, but after buying this one I will definitely be looking to get more of them. I have a couple of questions:

I took the drawers out to lessen the load when getting it off my truck. I feel somewhat embarrassed asking this but I am having trouble getting them back into the cabinet. I looked on the Vidmar website but they probably feel any fool should be able to put them back in. I fit the drawer back into the rails but something seems to prevent them from going all the way in.

My other question is that there are labels on the dividers and when removing them there is some adhesive remaining on it. Does anybody have suggestions on cleaning them up? I used Goo Gone but it is a bit of work as I need something a bit more abrasive. I also used one of those green scouring pads but that slightly scratches up the divider. As I have so many it would be nice if I could make up a small bucket of something and let the dividers soak and then just wipe the adhesive off.

BTW, I think this is one of the best forums on the web. My short time on this forum, mostly lurking so far, I have learned an incredible amount. I am having a detached garage built and have found a ton of useful information here.

there's probably a tab on the rail you have to bend then it will lock into it, as for the adhesive, a heat gun and WD40 should do the trick, and just use your finger, fingers work great for rolling adhesive off od cars and stuff

vidmars are nice. what'd you pay for it?

there's no big secret to putting the drawers back in. climb in there while inserting the top drawer so you can see what the obstruction is.

Sometimes you have to completely close the drawers for them to "seat". To remove the stickers first try heat and a plastic scraper, if that takes off most and there is some residue use cigarette lighter fluid (Naptha, not BBQ lighter fluid) or you can try saturating the label with the lighter fluid and use the plastic scraper if necessary. Another option is soaking in really hot water to melt the glue and dissolve the paper, I'd do that last.

I have 2 older Listas and they have a tab in front that needs to be depressed to unlock the drawer. The drawer also locks in the fully open position and the tab needs to be depressed in order to close the drawer. Your drawers must have had some sort of stop that you released to remove them. Whatever stop that is, it probably needs to be depressed to get the drawer back in.

Hmm, the kids got me a heat gun for Christmas. I'll give that and a couple of the other suggestions a try.

When removing the drawers. I just pulled the draw all the way out and then lifted the front of the draw and it came right out. I did not have a tab that needed to be depressed. When put back in I seat the draw and then push it in and it stops hard with several inches of the draw still sticking out. What is weird is that the amount of drawer sticking out at the hard stop varies for each drawer. I'll play with it more tomorrow and see what I can find.

I hesitate to mention price as even though I think I got it for a decent price I am afraid people with more experience buying these cabinets will think I overpaid. With that said I paid $380 for it. Being so clean and with all the dividers I feel good about the price.

Try seating the drawers with the slides all the way out. Sorta get the drawer started and with hands on the slides pull them out as you push in the drawer.

You did good. The tool houses around here want around $100 a drawer for ones in decent shape. Some on the board get really good (freakishly good) deals. Just the right time and right place. I paid $650 delivered for two 7 drawers, no casters, and they were pretty thrashed.

I think you did ok at $380. I've paid more than that for a couple not that nice. Hard to find bottom feeder prices on those.

Color. The divider spacing is a bit different between them as well. That's about it. Either are very well built.

I was able to get the drawers back into the cabinet. On the rail that stays in the cabinet there is a piece of metal on either side. These can pivot 180 degrees. These were all rotated back which prevented the drawers from going all the way in. When I rotated them forward the drawers go all the way back and it also prevents these rails from coming out of the cabinet. Thanks for the help. Now I just have to work on cleaning it up.
