I don't post much but my last post, something called vigilink added a link to my post.

Is this part of the forum's ads? Am I the only one who sees this link if I post?

The post below cut from previous thread hopefully will answer your question.

VigLink is what GJ uses to convert outbound links into affiliate links to earn money for the site. It's probably a big part of why you don't see massive side bar ads, top bar ads, and pop ups all over this forum. Pretty standard practice. If you click the link and it doesn't take you to the page it was supposed to it's likely a bug in VigLink or the setup.

Example:
User posts an Amazon link to a product. When it gets clicked, instead of going straight to Amazon it goes through VigLink to add the GJ affiliate code to it and then should end up at the correct Amazon link imperceptibly to the user who clicked the link. The only real difference is there's an affiliate code in the Amazon URL so if you buy any items GJ gets a portion of the sale for sending you there.

Many complain about advertisement nowadays but it still riddles me they can't see the good sides of it. More and more people are able to advertise their small business with the help of social media and in my point of view, it's great.

Yeah it's great when you piggy back off another person's website and dime to make money for yourself. That's called spam, do it again and you'll be gone.

I'm sure you have noticed that I have edited the link out of your post.

As some of you may notice my quote of a now banned spammer and wondered.

The former member had done as I mentioned in my previous post, yet I edited his post to take the link out. I also gave him a warning not to do it again. A typical spammer doesn't care, he came back, redited his post to include the old link.

Done, gone and deleted.
