These look interesting. If the magnet is strong enough to go through thin drawer liners, these might be the hot ticket. :)

The main thing I'm looking for is I need the rack to stay stuck to the drawer; either by magnets, or by gravity. I want to pull a socket off without the rail coming up with it. That guy's rack in the ebay auction doesn't have magnets on the back side it looks like, only on the front under the sockets.

i have 5 or 6 ernst rails screwed into a piece of wood with rope handles, weighs 15-20lbs loaded, and a grip brand socket board screwed into a piece of wood with rope handles weighs 20-25 lbs. I just lift them out of my toolbox onto my cart when i will be using them alot or keep them in the drawer

Between the nice metal holders Cornwell sockets come in, and the blow molded cases, I don't have to deal with socket rails and that is nice, just pluck the one you want, without disturbing anything.

couple packs of neo magnets from epstein's, glued to the underside of the socket rails would be sufficient imo. and would easily hold through the snap on drawer liner..

Good evening Guys. I am new to the forum.
I sell these things and they are great!
I have a video on my web site that does a pretty good job of showing how well they work.
Be glad to send you a link if you are interested.

Has any body found these at a discount? They seem like just the ticket, but they are expensive.

I would like to know is there anyone that makes a socket rail that can hold at least 18 1/2" drive sockets on one rail? :headscrat

I have a S/O set of impacts on a red aluminum rail that allows 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 drive via addable mounts with a torx screw head on top. What brand would this be?

I will blame my pain meds for not seeing the brand now located "Top Mfg." and now I really like this rail. Anybody know where to locate more?

Thanks, JASTECH

I absolutely love these things! The magnets are crazy strong and they dont take up much space compared to other rails. A bit expensive but totally worth it. Here is my setup with some of these rails.

I have a couple also in my cart for my swivels. Work awsome. Stay put and look nice too. Bit pricy though. Want to switchover my whole box. But that would cost $500 or more at what these things cost.

I hear you on that! Toolsource.com sells them at a reasonable price but I think it's worth it!

Don't worry, we're not that uptight over here at GJ. ;)

Thanks for the link.

It totally offends me that I'm not offended by the link.:willy_nil

I really didn't sign up to this forum to promote anything.
If this offends anyone; sorry.

Just a heads up, check your spelling on the header of your page. Stuff like that might keep me from buying something from you (and I'm really eyeballing the Stahlwille 3/8" socket set you have listed...). FYI (I know I'm wrapped pretty tightly...)

I have 3 of those magnetic socket rails. I like them, but as a few have said, they are pricey. I got em because I dont like how the standard ones fall over.. I have those deep/shallow pegs for my 1/2" sockets, the Snap-On plastic magnetic shipping trays for my 3/8", and I use these magnetic adjustable ones for my 1/4", allens, and torx.

They are strong enough to hold through the drawer liner, they are adjustable, and you can add more 'pegs' if need be.

I would go the other way and say the magnets are too strong. Pulling the rail off the drawer bottom almost requires a sharp prybar! If you like grabbing the rail and taking it with you, this isn't for you. If you leave the rails in the box, this will work great! They won't budge!

Watch for the VIM Magrail TL in 24" length. It will hold all your 1/2 drive sockets.

Vim sells rail lifters for the Magrail TL. It allows you to remove a Magrail with ease. Cost is $5.98 for a 10 pack. Enough for 10 Magrail TLs.

And I thought the ones I like we're expensive. These share a number of features with the MTS LOCK A SOCKET rails. They also have an aluminum rail that has a powerful magnet built into the rail. The plastic posts have a steel locking ball that locks or releases with a quarter turn. Easy to turn with greasy hands and NEVER fall off. You can pull the rail off the box any old way without things coming apart. You an mix sizes and buy extra posts. There is a rubber friction strip in the bottom of of the T slot rail to keep the posts in place. The best part is they are also sold as Craftsman for a better price than they usually sell for as MTS, the manufacturer so you just have to wait for a Sears sale. On the down side, they only come in red and only one length. The half inch Sears rail is a little shorter with a few less posts than the MTS rail, for less money. I think the other sizes are the same. They are around 20 bucks at Sears when not on sale. The VIM rails are nice but the price,is more than I will spend and I cannot buy them locally. The magnet will hold a thing up to 1/2" shallow impacts without peeling off the side of the tool box.
