Vim V214 dust cap puller

If someone has one of these, could you tell me the maximum dimension the jaws open up to?

I recently replace the CV boots on a 2006 4runner and destroyed the dust caps in the process of trying to get them off with a hammer and screwdriver, as the factory service manual recommends. So now I am looking for a good dust cap puller tool. The OD is about 5"

dust cap puller? When you get your screw driver under the cap did you twist it or pry it?

Tried both. Neither worked until I started hitting with a hammer. There was not enough lip on the dust cap to twist or pry

I'm not doubting such a tool, I will probably need one sooner or later. I just haven't seen one before.

I tap on it about an 1/8 inch from the edge on the cap and it should bow out enough to tap the screw driver in around the edge.

Yup, did that the other day. Cap went back on fine both sides.

I used one like that and it worked pretty well
the one I have locks on I think it is a MAC.
