well... i was looking at the magrails and obviously the "TL" versions look great... especially in the 16" version.... but so pricey... tooltopia seems to be the best price as $23 and change

http://www.tooltopia.com/vim-mr16r20b.aspx

however the older style magrails are being blown out at great prices @ $5 ea. but at around 11" are a big discount over the newer (and better) model

http://www.vimtools.com/store/page7.html

seeing I want to buy several... was curious on those that have used either or both and can give me their opinions

The problem with the older ones are height. You need a deep drawer to make them work, specially with deep sockets. Still a good buy and nice product. I have quite a few of these and will be buying some of the newer style to supplement these.

If you're going to buy several, consider buying the jobber pack from vim directly. It's not cheap at like $200 but, it cuts the prices of the TL rails to half of list.

Got a link to the jobber pack? I've looked several times and don't see it on the website.

I can't find anything listed about the jobber pack... that sounds worth looking at... what is included in that?

thanks

I checked with them and they haven't done the "jobber pack" in over a year.

The best pricing I could get the 16" rails for was $23 and change from tooltopia.com or approx $1.50 an inch (by the way that was a little cheaper than the jobber pack pricing)

The Magnetic Titan rails worked out to about $1 an inch

The Ernst rails with rare earth magnets worked out to $1.60 an inch

as I wanted a bunch, as much as I wanted to go with the new lowprofile magrails... very ****! I just couldn't see myself dropping $360.00 on them

So I went back to Vimtools original magrails they are clearing out at $5.00 a rail or 50 cents an inch... almost as good as the new ones but a lot cheaper.... bought 24 of them (8 of each size) and I bought some extra t-studs to fit more on the rails

That blows that Vim doesn't due the jobber pack anymore. I haven't seen the older magrails but, they look to have a lot taller profile but, the price is right.
Post pictures and let us know how they work out for you.

The older style has to be mounted to something with screws, correct? What are you gonna mount them to?

yeah they are definitely higher profile than the newer magrails but that is one of the tradeoffs for price i had to go with... they still seemed much better than the ernst and titan overall at least from my perspective

you can mount them if you like to a tray or something else... i don't want them mounted though (i already have a multi rail tray) ... i just want the rails loose side by side in my box as i want to be able to just grab the rail i need
