Vintage Air Compressor and Motor

I had my truck in the shop today and saw this funky looking air compressor tucked away in the corner of the shop. Never seen anything like it. My mechanic told me someone gave it to him and that it still works. The guy used to inflate bicycle tires with it long ago. I didn't see any names on it, so I suspect that it was a home brew creation.

I also saw this heavy duty motor contraption. Looked like some sort of industrial paint shaker, but that's just a guess.
