Hi,

I went to a small flea market today and ran into this old 50's saw for $25! I couldn't pass it up and it sounds VERY smooth, like a jet engine. Was wondering if anyone here has any info? Almost nothing on the WEB. Thanks!

Believe it or not, B&D used to be a very well-made tool. Good, heavy duty stuff at moderate price point. Check brushes, clean it, and lube it, and you should be good to go for many years with that workhorse. Somehow that handle makes me think it might be newer, like a sawcat series, but that's just me. Good score.
Cheers,
JimDon

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the info! No, it's not a sawcat as I'm familiar with those from the 70's being a frame carpenter when I was a kid. This saw seems better to me and older. There is no info that I can find was hoping for a parts breakdown or schematic? Thanks again!

SG,
Yes, after looking again at the pix, the motor housing is all wrong to be a Sawcat vintage. That older, rounder style is more reminiscent of late 40s, or 1950s vintage design for power tools.
Cheers,
JimDon

Hi,
I pulled everything apart today on the saw and did a little cleaning inside and out. Here is an after pic!
