Hi All,

I am new here. As I was looking for a group that appreciates good quality tools, I found this group.

I inherited this German metric tool set from my dad in 1980 and it must be from the 50's . It is pretty much complete and in good shape and I know it is pretty rare, but I have no idea what it is worth.

Can anyone help me figure out the approx. value of it?
I appreciate any help and let me know if there is a market for it.
Thank you.

Welcome to the board! Those are beautiful tools, but I don't know what they are worth. There's a few members from Europe that can weigh in.

Hey, Welcome aboard! If I got that from my dad it would be priceless and definitely not for sale. If I got it any other way someone would have to want it more than me and I'd want no less than $200 before I'd let it go. You don't see many boxes with metal holders inside anymore, it's all plastic now. And being that it's Belzer you know the construction of the box is 1st rate.

Here's a snapshot from my 1978 catalog of what looks like the same kit that must have still been in production at that date. Sorry no prices in it.

I love the fact that it includes DBE and DOE wrenches. If it was mine I would have a hard time letting it go, if I got it from my Dad no chance. I have even held onto a craftsman raised panel ratchet I bought my dad in the 90s for Father's Day, and I hate craftsman RP ratchets of that vintage.

I cannot imagine seriously considering selling a set like that.

No way to ascertain "value", because there's no base line to compare it against.
The "value" is whatever a willing buyer is prepared to pay.

Cool Set..... I have to agree with the other posters. If it came to me from my dad, I doubt that there would be any price that I would sell it for.

In this case, I would put the value at PRICELESS

A few years ago, I watched that same set sell for $300 at a car auction. The exterior of the case was in better condition than yours. It was incorrectly advertised as a Porche tool kit.

I wouldn't let that set leave my shop if I owned it. It's beautiful.

That's a lovely family heirloom tool set. Keep it if you can, but if you don't want to or don't have space you should give it away to your next closest relative that would appreciate it.
I tell my kids that if they sell off my stuff like that I will come back and haunt them!!

Very nice set. Unfortunately (or unfortunately depending on your point of view) I agree with a lot of the others....if I got it from my Dad, it would be priceless and would go to the grave with me unless greedy relatives saw a way to make a quick buck off of me croaking. The only way I would ever sell anything like that is if there is nobody else who would appreciate it to pass it on to while I am still alive - I would be happiest watching another kindred spirit appreciate it and the memories that it holds. If I sold it myself, I would blow the money on the casinos and hookers in Vegas so the gold digging relatives would not get one red cent :D
