Hey,

I hate posting for help, but I have searched images on Google and eBay for about 3 hours now with no success identifying a breaker bar. Here's the story. I was at an estate sale and found 3 speed handles, 3 breaker bars, and 3 ratchets. I put them in my shopping basket. Then somebody decided to "shop" my shopping basket and took the 3 ratchets and 1 breaker bar. I know the 3 ratchets were Snap On, but I don't know the brand of the breaker bar taken. The estate sale company will replace the items if I can provide them with a list. Fortunately, I took pictures while I was shopping. Any help identifying the mystery breaker bar will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

The ID question got me wondering since I didn’t recognize it right off. Like macgee, my first thought was S-K since their early bars were unmarked. The problem is that all of my S-K bars are knurled all the way up the handle and the crossbar holes are closer to the end than the mystery bar. I liked the Walden idea but the same problem exists for them. If you discount the knurling, the Plomb bar isn’t too far off so maybe something in the Proto area? The first two pictures are S-K, the third picture is Walden and the last picture is Plomb.

Not quite enough info to understand how the estate sale company is liable for another customer removing items from an (unattended?) basket. Was the basket left in their care and they promised to hold the tools for you?

Agree and also a very good lesson to learn.

Never leave your cherries laying around in a basket to be seen or shopped out of because its seems everything is fair game at an estate sale and they will disappear and not a civil environment.
I've had caught several people trying to grab my stuff out of my basket while holding it or sitting on the ground between my legs while grabbing other stuff; they definitely heard my displeasure.

I now bring a rag to put over my items, pay early, put it in my car and then go back in for more, there's always some sour late comer looking to grab things for themselves. Definitely not a fan of estate sales anymore.

For true.
One of the several bad actors who put me off estate sales was a guy first in line, carrying a handful of "Sold" stickers. He raced through, tagging anything in which he might be interested. Then, he went back through again, digging for the smaller bargains. Finally, before checking out, he closely examined everything he had tagged and pulled several of the "Sold" tags.

I was standing in front of this thief at checkout and told the sale manager what I'd seen the miscreant do. The manager said, "Well, he's got a shop and is a regular customer." as if that excused him and her from being decent human beings.

It's a 1/2" X 10" Walden Bar. The hang hole is too large and high for a S-K.

Looking for a Round Beam Plomb 1068 Double Box End Wrench

This one has been shortened so it’s hard to tell.

Yes...they were on the hold table. Unfortunately, there are people who routinely "shop" the hold table when staff are looking the other way. I completely understand them grabbing the Snap On ratchets, but I didn't pay close attention to the breaker bar and that made me curious about why they grabbed it. As for ES company providing replacements or substitutes, I guess it is just good customer relations. 👍

I have not had that happen YET, but you are not the first person who has told me about it happening to them. I enjoy the social component of estate sales. Non COVID Era, a lot of old timers would be at sales just for something to do and I enjoyed the stories and knowledge many of them shared. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, there are those sketchy and aggressive people who dampen the fun of it.

Since there seems to be consensus on the Walden 1152, how about some opinions on this unmarked 1/2” drive bar?

macgee, burnin53, d42jeep, r olson 06, Oldtuleguy...thanks for playing along. 🙂 The mystery and trying solve it is fun to me. Now...I did want to make certain I had not been liberated of some super rare breaker bar. lol. I think we have ruled that out. I'm with you guys on this...there are several close matches, but with slight differences. Two interesting things. The one that was in my basket had kind of a rope style knurling. Every other close match I've looked at has diamond knurling. Also, there seems two differences with the head when compared to Walden 1152 pictures...though they could be optional illusions. One area looks finished were the Walden 1152 isn't and another spot has a slightly different shape...a very slight rounded point vs just rounded.
Thanks for playing tool forensics with me. 👍
