I pick these up as I find them, always interesting to punch in the part numbers and see what the tool was for. Some are Vlchek, Armstrong and Proto. The extension I found buried in the dirt out in our old barn when I was a kid. Odd how it has a seam on the 1/2" dr female end.

1st pic top to bottom:
Vlchek 1A666 track nut wrench
Unknown maker 5S9567 10" 1/2" drive extension
Armstrong 4B7618 wrench
Vlchek 3B6283

Top is a unknown maker, set of 9F22 wrenches
Middle right is a unknown maker and unmarked 5S9569 double tapered hex 1/2" drive socket
Middle left is a 5S9568 1/2" female to 3/4" male drain plug socket I believe made by Proto
Middle is a 1P5534 1/2" 12 point 7/8" socket made by Proto but unmarked
Bottom is a unknown maker, button head grease zerk adapter

I have the fill and drain plug wrench (the big one at the bottom of the second photo) and I use it all the time.

I am developing a collection of Caterpillar Double Open End wrenches as I run into them at garage and estate sales.

So far I have only run into standard DOE wrenches. I just pick them up if I see the Cat part number system: number, letter, number, number, number (and sometimes a fourth number).

I plan on using the plug socket (top row middle) this week on my Cat D4D.

I was able to find a pic online of a parts list for a D4 and a picture of a NOS kit that a guy picked up. Pretty cool! I know I have passed over some of those tools at sales and didn't bother to pick them up and look. The pliers, screwdriver and hammer for sure. Would a cat number be on most or all the tools?

Found this in one of my other tool boxes. Not numbered but I think it is a 1B9660 set of feeler gauges, .005" thru .010"

The only catalogs I had were 1973 tool catalogs from Pape Cat, a dealer in the PNW. I scanned the tool section and then sold the catalogs to two members on here years ago. I have been leisurely collecting them as I find them for several years. Mainly because Snap on and Proto made their hand tools.

I found this 4.5" Billings 3/8" x 5/16" 5B780 DOE today. Anybody have an idea when it dates from?

Bill

Its the smallest DOE included in practically all equipment tool kits late 30's to late 50's. Also made by armstrong with same p/n. Its hard 2 find now and i can use a couple for kits i'm putting together.
