This Champion Pneumatic Machinery Air Compressor, Model X-4, was purchased NEW by my Grandfather back in the 1930's. It runs great! I am now refurbishing it. I have called the manufacturer, who put me in contact with a local representative. He was helpful, in that he was able to find a two page factory parts number sheet. This was ALL the Champion Pneumatic Machinery Corp has in their archives. No parts available! They were able to tell me that this model was manufactured between 1930 and 1932, as a "Portable". I have disassembled and found that there was no corrosion or broken parts. There is only three gaskets, which I have made, on the pump. All parts are original, except the flywheel.

I'm surprised the company was willing to work with you granted how old it is, I've heard some stories of people trying to restore compressors only to be stopped by the company themselves having to do damage prevention in case the compressor decides to pop.

Pressure tested to 400 PSI, three coats of primer and two coats of base. I have been bitten! LOL

Paint is done as of today. I'm waiting for the copper sealing washers for the head valves.

It has the original pressure control that works perfectly. 125 PSI, and restarts at 90 PSI. I'm looking for the original paint color for it. Looks close to Detroit Diesel Alpine green. The motor that came off it is a 1/4 HP, General Electric, 1745 rpm.

On a side note, I am looking for the felt filter material (please see previous photo).
