Side interest story.
My neighbour is an outdoorsman. Hunting, fishing and you will find him there. He drives a 7.3 Power Stroke F250. One time his battery was too low to start the bid Diesel. He was 100km from help. He took the blade off his chainsaw and ran the chain over the alternator pulley. He was ready to start in 15 minutes
Do you know a DELCO (GM) alternator can be used to charge a battery, when it is powered by a power source. A small engine or electric motor works.

Sorry about the blurry pix maybe these are better. It was not in too bad a shape, just some rust/minor dings, and of course not working. The clock work timer needed to be cleaned and freed up and the tap switch also cleaned and lubed. I also added a 3 wire with ground line cord. Electrically it was then functional. I removed all the "stuff" from the top panel leaving most connected and covered with plastic while I did the "body" work. The charger uses a big copper oxide multi plate rectifier. They have a reputation for aging well. Mine was fine............Bob
