Hey all. Just joined and this is my first post, although I've been looking at different threads through the day. I just picked up Columbian vise at an antique store today for $20. I've read some of the vise threads, but I just wanted to find out more about this particular vise. If anyone has any information I'd appreciate it.

Welcome to the GJ. Maybe you could adjust your phone settings to send smaller files.

Sorry, I'm new to this forum deal. Are these better? I used the smallest upload setting.

What you have there is a light duty modern Columbian shop vise. It's USA made which is a plus but as far as value goes, you paid retail price.

Welcome to GJ.

Tear it down and spiff it up...trust me you'll be hooked and you'll keep looking for cooler and cooler vises.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it! I figured it wasn't "vintage" since the marking are different that the ones in other threads. I was planning on cleaning it up, but as far as tearing it down, how do I do that (I'm a total noob)?

One of the better models of utility vises out there. Lots of bigger ones were sold under the craftsman name, they are gray. Also sold under rigid and maybe others...

Unscrew it all the way and take the moving jaw piece all the way out. Flip it upside down. Iirc those have a spring, washer and e clip. A couple screwdrivers can usually get it. Eye protection sometimes those eyes clips go flying or break.

The rest, just start disassembling. Only a few bolts/screws...
