It's a dark and stormy day here in SoCal, but it didn't stop me from picking up this beauty. I got her off CL and thought it would be fun to clean up. It hasn't been abused but is in need of some maintenance. The handle is getting stuck because it needs grease and the motor seems to be placed incorrectly because it's tweaked.

Let me know what you think. It's my first time posting on a tool so would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

Nice lighter duty press, hope you don't have any problems with the speed system. Use caution.

Welcome to GJ, and that is a nice drill press!

Lots of information here on the 150, just search it! That should clean up nicely, and to have the 'Vari-Slo' pulley set is a great bonus.

The motor looks like it's at a weird angle, I'd adjust that.

Looks like the motor plate took a hit, it should be straight up but good find and that vari-slo option is sweet, just make sure the press IS RUNNING when you change speeds or you'll damage it.

Thanks Everyone for the great comments. The motor plate is not damaged its the belts that are pulling it up, I think it's just a matter of proper adjustment.

It looks to me that the motor mount is one of the hinged type not bent, try loosening the adjusting bolts to move the motor closer to the head. Never work the Vari-Slo speed lever unless the motor is running!

Kaervak, I paid 250 for it. It's probably on the high side but it's hard to get those in Southern California. I really like the look and this one is all there it just needs some TLC.

I don't think that's a bad price for a floor model complete 150 with original motor and vari-slo setup. I'd be ok with paying that too. I have a bench top model 80 I bought last year for $50. Missing a couple parts, no vari-slo, non original motor. I'm probably at about $150 into it with getting the missing parts and a period correct motor. I'd jump on a 150 like that if I could find one here.
