Just read a thread in "**Hot Deals**" section (http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=189310) discussing about the vintage Craftsman compressor. Interesting enough, I happened to pick up one. It is pretty cool and runs fine. Does anyone have any information as far as the history about the compressor as well as how to clean up / maintain it?

Yes, they did. Air brushes go back to the 1930s, if not even earlier.

Such compressers were intended for any small paint gun, from air brush to touch-up gun to small bleeder-type spray guns. Also for tire inflation, air mattresses, and old-style insect foggers (basically a small siphon-type spray gun).
