Vintage Craftsman Oilless Sprayer

I was given a really old looking Craftsman Oilless Sprayer, Model 283-18580. I have no idea what it's good for, but I'll probably clean it up and "restore" it. Why? I don't know - I just do that.

Anyway, has anyone seen one of these? Is it of any value? What specific use(s) was it put to?

I found an old topic on this sprayer here, but no one seemed to know much about it. Maybe someone does now...

Well with the "Long C" logo it could be anywhere from 1931 through 51, but I did not find that particular unit in 31, 33, 37-43, or 48-50 catalogs...
