Hello. I'm new here. Looking for info on a old Craftsman tablesaw I have. I bought it from a guy who said it was his Grandfathers. He believes it's from the late 40's or early 50's ? It has a narrow table. And the blade slides on a carriage up through the table. The way a Radial armsaw does Except from below your work not above. It has a "D" handle similar to a scoop shovel that is used to slide the blade back & forth. I haven't paid much attention to the saw in a few years but if I remember correctly it has a 1 hp motor ? Any info appreciated Thank you.

Sounds like a 103.2503 "Builders Saw" from the 1940s. Check out this website, lots of good info on machines there:

This is a catalog clip from 1942. Not sure how many years they sold that saw but at some point they may have changed the handle to fit your description. Sold without a motor or, for an additional cost, a 3/4hp motor.

'Gilmore' is a prestigious name in SW Michigan. The Gilmore Auto Museum in the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek area is a worthwhile destination for enthusiasts. ANy connection between the screen name and that family? Jim Gilmore sponsored AJ Foyt for many years.
Or is it a reminder of the movie?

This is where you should spend some time researching your tool.

I got curious so looked a bit more. Here's the Builders Saw from 1948 with the shovel-type handle and a couple of other changes. And yes, welcome to GJ!

Wow, Thanks so much for the help mine does look like the 1948 model I have all the fences & etc for it too. It does run & cut very good the few times I've used it. As for the question about the Gilmore name ? I am a Gilmore and only live 50ish miles from Kalamazoo.Family has lived in Michigan well over 100yrs.So most likely am related to the Gilmores you refer to ? But have never met them.
