Greetings,

I have an opportunity to purchase this Craftsman toolbox, but I can't find any good information to help date it on the Web and GJ.

I found information to help date the oval, crown, and V logo, but not this type of Craftsman logo.

Does anyone know about what time frame this was made?
Also, what is the value for this toolbox?
I don't want to overpay.

I agree with the above. It looks nice and clean, I'm thinking from the 80's based on the logo (I have one like it, but with a differently stylized logo). Good little box. Mine was full of tools....and free....but I would buy one at a yard sale for the right price.

Yeah that was my thought as well... 80's... $20 seems about right, less is better, more if you really really really wanted it bad for some reason.

I have one that was purchased new in the mid 1990's so it really isn't vintage at all.

The value of $20 is about right. No better or worse that a new one. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it if I were you to be honest.

I have one like that I got in the mid-70's. Although mine is a lot more beat up and used than that.

Boxes like that can be found at garage sales, Goodwill and flea markets easily. I have several 70's and older ones and I haven't paid more that ten dollars for one before. I'd pass on it unless it was under ten bucks.

This was a simliar box put out by Sears in the 70's as a commercial box that I had powdercoated.

This style of box has been around for a very long time (back into the 50s). This one, however, has a stick-on decal from the 80s or 90s. It's not really a vintage box. If in great condition, $20 is the most it's worth. Can be commonly found for $10 or less.

I'd probably try to get it for 10 bucks if I really liked it. If for nothing else, the hardware. I believe that same hardware was used quite a bit before the 80's or 90's, and it is usually trashed and rusted. I'm dealing with rusted hardware now.

Oh Wooooow!
Thanks for all the prompt replys!
I belong to other car forums and help is slow and people are rude.
This group of people on GJ seems to be more respectable and helpful.

Anyways, I guess I'll pass on the toolbox.
It's $25 and about a 1hr and 30min drive from me.

I'm really wanting a nice Vintage Craftsman/Snap On toolbox in good condition. I have a feeling I will end up buying one off Ebay.

Thank you all for the help.
