vintage mechanics craftsman wall tool box

PIcked this up today. Nice vintage box. I wish I had the time to restore it because it is in pretty decent shape. I paid 20 and think that was pretty fair.

I'm not sure what it held but ill do a bit of research and see if I can figure it out. It was in the back of and old bowling alley by all the pin setting machines.

Im not sure what I want to do yet. I have lots of vintage craftsman tools so I might have to try and fix it up and fill it. I havent looked at it real close since it was balls cold today and I didnt have the heat on in my garage. Drop me a line in a month or so and Ill let you know what Im thinking.

These can sell for over $100, depending on condition and whether internal hardware is present. I know that for a fact.

Very nice. Have the version that came from Craftsman with the peg board. I hung it in my garage / workshop and it makes me smile every time I use a tool from it. Mine is a little later as it has the Crown Top logo.

You might consider posting it in the "The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal" thread as well. My experience has been that you don't see a lot of these and there a bigger group that follows this other thread.

Bumping an old thread with some CL ads.

First, the way overpriced (IMO) version.

1950's Craftsman Tool Cabinet with Tools - $500 (West Dearborn)
1950's vintage Craftsman wall hanging toolbox with tools. I'm adding more tools as I find and organize. Here's an opportunity to purchase a rare collection great for a man cave or vintage garage setting. Not all tools are Craftsman but guaranteed to be vintage tools.

Second, the perhaps more reasonably priced but still not cheap.

Vintage 1950's Craftsman Wall Hanging Toolbox - $170 (West Dearborn)
For Sale, Vintage Craftsman wall hanging toolbox. Has two doors, two lower drawers, working lock with key. Several slots,brackets/fixtures for holding tools. No tools are included with this sale.

Overall dimensions with the doors closed are: 31-1/2" high x 19-1/4" wide x 5-1/4" deep with the doors open it expands to 38-3/4" wide by 2-1/4" deep.

Don't see these very often, at least in my experience.

EDIT: Just noticed -- it's the same seller so likely the same box with and without tools.

f100,
Any chance you saved pictures from the CL ad that had the tools for the Craftsman woodworking cabinet? The ad is no longer active but I would like to know what tools go in that box. I have a line on one and would love to know what it holds.

I had not saved the picture with the tools but was able to find the ad as it's still listed on the Detroit area CL. Hope that this is what you were looking for. Found the ad by searching for "Craftsman wall".
